I look back at our Christmas' past
When my kids were young and without care
Where Laughter echoed throughout the house
And there was promise in the air.
I loved the hustle and bustle of the season
I was my happiest then, with tons to do
Madly shopping for the perfect gifts
Making sure their wishes all came true
Baking, decorating and wrapping presents
Why, I was in my glory
Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas buffet
Having company come to share a story
Yes, I look back fondly on those Christmas days
But Christmas has changed, times are leaner
It's not the gifts or the food nor the money spent,
But sharing love with a grateful demeanor
