Impartation
They graced my life like sweet summer rain,
imparted their knowledge, the wisdom they gained,
taught me to live, love and overcome pain,
and I drank it all in like sweet summer rain.
They are part of me now, forever ingrained,
So I give myself to you, for as long as I remain,
Please drink me in, like sweet summer rain,
And I'll be in you always and my wisdom retained.
Written to my children, to challenge them to retain and use what they've seen from their elders and then impart to their children. I learned from my elders, not by advice alone, but by their examples.
