Rainy Evening
Sitting on the porch
on a hot and rainy night,
Earth swallows the downpour
as thunder booms
and cracks the sky with light
The warm breeze carries the
loamy scent of earth
across the field and to my yard
where I sit, rocking, quietly
in respite
